YEAR 1998 - 2000 AFRICA

An important German multinational group entrusted Fioravanti the task of channelling all the goods originating in South Europe bound for some yards where they building of an hydroelectric power plant at Tis Abay in Ethiopia.
Fioravanti was responsible for all the logistic chain: from the goods pick-up at each of the supplier's facilities to the Tis Abay delivery site.
The suppliers were located in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Slovenia. The problems were not just to the transport, but even to the customs, fiscal and insurance matters. The logistic operations were centralized in the bonded customs warehouse at Voghera, where it carried out the operations of storage, sorting, packing, marking, containerization and all the customs formalities. On the contrary some shipments left directly from the origin countries to Africa.
In Africa the chosen discharging seaport was Assab in Eritrea, from where the trucks were arranged to leave for Tis Abay with a trip of around 1200 km in the heart of Africa.
After some months of the war between Eritrea and Ethiopia made us impossible to use Assab port. So, the ocean shipments were routed to Djibouti seaport and the logistics matters in Africa were re-enginered again to its final destination. The Hydroelectric power plant of Tis Abay was targeted to become operating in first month of year 2001 and yet we were able to finish this job in a very tight time frame without a least problem.
